Memphis is known for its barbeque but what if you’re, well, sick of the pork? There’s a lot of great pizza to be had here, too, so set your ADT in Lawrence and take a little drive to one of Tennessee’s best pizza parlors:
Memphis Pizza Caf: This is a local chain but the Midtown location is consistently the best. They’ve got it all from pizza to wings to subs but if you’re looking for a treat try the ultimate and add banana peppers.
Mama Mia’s Pizzeria: Okay, so this is actually located in neighboring Collierville but it’s got good enough food that it’s worth the drive. Buy by the slice or the pie and if you’re lucky you may even catch a glimpse of Mama Mia herself coming to ask how the food was.
Old Venice: This Memphis institution has all your Italian favorites, not just pizza. You’ll find pasta and sandwiches here as well as a wide range of Italian beers – come early to get a good seat or try the weekend brunch if you really want something different.

Memphis has a lot of places to buy drinks. I have not seen many very good places where they sold homemade lemonade. The only locations where they sold this type of drink were in the Downtown area near the river. I remember that I bought hundreds of homemade lemonades from a lady with a small truck. She was also selling hot dogs and sodas. I have never had lemonade that was as fresh as her’s. It was full of flavor and she gave a me a huge cup for only two dollars. I needed about three hours to finish the drink. In order to make the drink sweeter, she put lots of sugar and freshly picked lemons. There are at least 9 other places where this type of drink is sold in that part of the city. I am not sure of their names or exact locations. I tasted them but they were not as good as the place where I normally go to. During the spring and summer, they are always open but during the winter, they close at about 3 or 4pm. I would recommend the Downtown part of Memphis to anyone who wants to have excellent lemonade.

Located right off Main Street, Pa Pa Pia’s has it all from delicious 5 pizzas to mouth tiramisu and everything in between. The prices are reasonable for the huge portions. You are bound to take some home if you want to save room for dessert – and you should because the desserts are that good!

The chicken dishes are the best around. You may have trouble choosing from the chicken piccatta and the Chicken parmigiana. They have an extensive wine list and knowledgeable servers that can help you find the perfect pairing for your meal. All served with freshly sliced bread and olive oil. They also have a large selection of vegetarian dishes to suit any taste.

The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with an authentic Italian feel from the music in the background to the paintings on the wall. Perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner for two. If you find yourself in the Memphis area, head down to Pa Pa Pia’s – you will not be disappointed!
